Built by a Freelancer,
for Freelancers

FreelancerCalculator.com exists because freelance financial math is genuinely hard — and most tools don’t help. We built the platform to change that.

Sarmad

FreelancerCalculator.com was founded by Sarmad, an IT and Web Development specialist with a broad background in eCommerce (including eBay, Walmart, and TikTok Shop management) and Meta advertising. Having worked extensively in tech and digital commerce, he recognized the need for a comprehensive, mathematically sound reference suite to help independent developers, agency owners, and freelancers accurately structure their business finance models.

Rather than relying on guesswork, the tools on this site are designed to reverse-engineer rate targets, analyze platform commission costs (such as Upwork and Fiverr fees), estimate localized taxes (like the Serbian and Russian self-employed regimes), and design stable monthly retainer packages.

Every calculator on this site uses a mathematically sound formula, based on official tax rates and platform documentation. Nothing is guesswork.

Our Mission

Freelancing is a business, not just a gig. Yet most independent professionals set their rates based on gut feelings, competitor pricing, or a quick Google search — without accounting for self-employment taxes (typically 25–35% of gross income), utilisation gaps (25–35% of working time is non-billable), or business overhead that quietly erodes take-home pay.

Our mission is to make freelance financial planning as simple as entering your income goal and pressing Calculate. Every tool on this site is free, requires no account, and processes all your data locally in your browser — your numbers never leave your device.

What We Cover

Our Calculation Methodology

Every formula used across FreelancerCalculator.com is documented, transparent, and based on verifiable sources:

  • Tax rates are sourced from official government publications (IRS, HMRC, Serbian Tax Administration, Russian Federal Tax Service)
  • Platform fee percentages are verified against each platform’s official Help Centre documentation
  • Calculations are reviewed and updated at least quarterly
  • All tools include a disclaimer noting they are estimation tools — professional tax advice should be obtained for official filings

For a full breakdown of our methodology, see the Calculation Methodology page.

Privacy First

Unlike most financial tools, we do not require account creation. All parameters you enter into our calculators — income figures, rates, tax scenarios — are processed entirely within your browser using client-side JavaScript. Nothing is sent to our servers. Nothing is stored. Your financial data is yours alone.
